NAVALU Presents Its Latest WFSV, the SEAFOX

The French shipbuilder NAVALU visited, on Friday November 8th, the port of Ostend to present its offshore wind farm service catamaran, the SEAFOX.

Designed to MCA category 1 and Bureau Veritas Classification for Wind Farm Service Ships, the Navalu NxS 24 is a fast 4 x 4 marine utility vehicle. The Catamaran is powered by four separate engines driving four independent propulsion lines. Even with an engine, or drive line failure, the NxS 24 will be able to operate effectively while maintaining a reasonable speed. The fine entry displacement hulls are easy on equipment and crew and most importantly allow for economic operation. She can accommodate 12 in four cabins, has a full galley, head and shower, and ample stowage for personal gear. The wheelhouse has the usual array of electronics. In crew transport mode she will carry 12 technicians on suspension seats. As we are a custom builder, other options, interior arrangements, and accessories can be provided.

On Wednesday September 18th 2013 NAVALU shipyard managed successfully the sea launch of the SEAFOX at the coast of Vendeé in France. SEAFOX is on her way to the German offshore wind farms. SEAFOX is the first aluminium offshore wind farm service vessel built in France with Bureau Veritas approval, and dedicated to a British shipowner (Enviroserve Ltd) set up in Lowestoft (Suffolk) in North Sea.

The main characteristics of this catamaran in aluminum hull are: 24 meters length by 9.90 meters beam with 1.75 meter draft at the safran and a 72 ton light weight.

The 1st trial at sea of the SeaFox allowed us to valid the waterlines of this catamaran and the high speed performances which exceeded 24 knots with 90% of the main engine powerful rate despite the unsuitable sea sailing conditions in the Atlantic Sea. The SeaFox also showed an excellent sea keeping.
