Navy Divers Remove Explosive Ordnance Off Italy

During the weekend of April 21st and 22nd, the Italian Navy conducted an underwater search for explosive ordnance near ” Marina del Cantone ” beach.

During the search the Navy team found a bomb of English production with about 120 kg explosives inside.

The bomb, found at the depth of seven meters,  is considered to be a relic of World War II, the Navy wrote on the website.

After the discovery the Navy banned all the maritime activities in the area, and the divers conducted the removal of the ordnance.

The bomb was transported 2 miles offshore where it was detonated after securing the area was free of vessels, people and animals.

The detonation occurred in a water about 800 meters deep.
