New boss to lead Mubadala Petroleum

The Abu Dhabi-based oil and gas exploration and production company Mubadala Petroleum has appointed a new chief executive officer.

Mubadala Petroleum said on Sunday that Bakheet Al Katheeri would succeed Musabbeh Al Kaabi as the CEO of the company.

Al Kaabi is leaving the company to head the new Petroleum and Petrochemicals business of the Mubadala Investment Company when it begins operations in May.

Al Katheeri previously held the positions of chief growth officer, responsible for all new business development as well as mergers and acquisition activity. He was also the chief operating officer, overseeing both operated and non-operated assets and UAE gas supply. He brings with him more than 18 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.

Before joining Mubadala Petroleum, Al Katheeri managed production and facilities engineering with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). In his capacity as a manager of production and facilities engineering for all offshore operators in Abu Dhabi, he managed and coordinated aggregate production of more than one million barrels daily.

Regarding his appointment, Al Katheeri said: “I am honored to have been entrusted with the leadership of Mubadala Petroleum and overseeing the next phase in the development of the company. We are looking for new opportunities to add to our existing production and the development projects we expect to bring forward.”
