New client for 'Transocean Leader'

According to the report, its Transocean Leader semi-submersible drilling rig, currently working for Statoil on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, will have a new client next year.

Transocean did not reveal anything about the new client’s identity or the rig’s new deployment spot, but it did reveal that the dayrate for the contract would be $335.000. The three years long contract will start in May 2015. Upon expiration of the original deal in May 2018, the rig will begin a one year contract at a reduced dayrate of 305.000. The total value of the contract is around $478 million.

Furthermore, Transocean has secured a one year contract for its Transocean.  The rig, which was idle prior to this contract, will earn a dayrate of $335.000, starting this November. Similar to the Transocean Leader, the drilling contractor revealed neither the client’s identity nor the country of the rig’s deployment.
