New CTO role at Proserv

Energy services company Proserv has promoted a new chief technology officer (CTO) of Subsea Controls.

Proserv said on Wednesday that Tore Erntsen was promoted to the position of Subsea Controls CTO, based at the firm’s Trondheim facility.

Prior to taking on his new role, Ernsten was the vice president of engineering and technology within the subsea team. He joined Proserv in 2012 when the firm took over the subsea controls business of Weatherford.

Regarding the appointment, Iain Smith, president of Subsea Controls, said: “Alongside his senior role within Subsea Controls, and his contribution to our strategic planning with Davis Larssen, our chief strategy officer, Tore’s technological focus provides a backbone of our company’s direction and accelerates our pace of change.”

Ernsten holds an MSc in engineering and ICT, which he gained at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and he began his career in research and development with German conglomerate Siemens. He also worked for SICOM as a senior software developer and development manager.

After his promotion, Ernsten said: “I am delighted to undertake this new role, to continue to drive forwards Proserv’s R&D activities and to lay down the firm’s technology roadmap.

“One of my key goals is to work with our team to see more innovative prototypes emerge in the commercial market as products that can really make a difference to our clients.”
