New Project 20380 Corvette ‘Boiky’ Commissioned

The new Project 20380 corvette ‘Boiky’ constructed by JSC Severnaya Verf shipyard for Baltic Fleet (BF) has been commissioned. Boiky is the third vessel of Project 20380, developed by Almaz Design Bureau, for the shipyard.

Lead ship of the series, corvette Stereguschiy, was delivered in 2007. The second corvette – Soobrazitelny – was delivered to the navy on Oct 14, 2011.

This type of corvette is intended for littoral zone operations, gun support of landing operations, engagement of enemy submarines and surface ships. Displacement of Project 20380 corvettes is 2,000 tons, length is over 100 meters, max speed is 27 knots, operating range is 4,000 miles. Among main advantages are multifunctionality, compactness, low signature, high level of automation and integration of control systems.

Another ship of this project – corvette Stoiky – is being built at the shipyard as well.
