Nido Petroleum set to start drilling in the Philippines

Odfjell Drilling’s “Deepsea Metro I” has started mobilization from Malaysia to its offshore location in the Philippines.

The info was shared on Tuesday by Nido Petroleum on behalf of the Galoc Joint Venture, which has hired the drillship to drill the Galoc-7/7ST well location in Block C1 of Service Contract 14, offshore the Philippines.

Nido said it would update the market once the rig arrives on location at Galoc-7/7ST and starts drilling operations. This is expected to occur on March 31, 2017.

According a recent statement by Odfjell, the Deepsea Metro I has been contracted for one firm well of approximately 3 weeks in duration and one optional side track.

Deepsea Metro I is owned by Golden Close Maritime Corp. Ltd., a company owned by Deep Sea Metro Ltd., which is a joint venture between Metro Exploration (60%) and Odfjell Drilling (40%). Odfjell Drilling is the manager of the vessel. The drillship previously worked for Petronas in Malaysia.
