Nigeria’s president meets with Eni’s chief

The President of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari met on Monday in Abuja with Eni’s CEO, Claudio Descalzi.

During the meeting, Descalzi renewed his condolences for the tragedy caused by the recent explosion of a company’s pipeline in the Niger Delta, due to acts of sabotage, which resulted in the death of 14 people, Eni said in a statement.

The meeting was an opportunity for Eni CEO to update the President on the company’s activities in the country for the development of both oil and gas resources.

Claudio Descalzi restated Eni’s commitment to the development of the oil and gas sector in Nigeria while President Buhari expressed his appreciation for the company’s continued engagement in the Country in the current challenging environment of low international oil prices,” the statement said.

Eni has been present in Nigeria since 1962. In 2014 hydrocarbon production was 135,000 boed Eni’s equity.
