Bluefin-21 AUV is about to start its ninth mission in the search and recovery operations of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Ninth Mission in Search for MH370 About to Start

The AUV already completed eight missions and covered approximately two thirds of the focused underwater search area.

The focused underwater search area is defined as a circle of 10km radius around the second Towed Pinger Locator detection which occurred on 8 April.

According to AMSA, today’s search will cover around 49,491 kilometers, and 10 military aircraft and 11 ships will participate.

Until now no contacts of interest have been found by Bluefin-21.
