NLNG denies ownership of Badagry Dry Dock

Nigeria LNG, operator of the Bonny export plant, denied media reports it is the owner of the $1.5 bil­lion Badagry Dry Dock proj­ect.

The company is not the owner and is not investing in the construction of any dry dock, Nigeria LNG said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Nigeria LNG has a singular business focus, namely processing and exporting LNG. It has no interest in investing in a dry dock anywhere in the world,” it said.

According to NLNG, the owner of the proposed dry dock in Badagry is a consortium of other Nigerian companies under the name of Badagry Ship Repair and Maritime Engineering Company (BSMEC).

“NLNG’s only interest was and still remains, encouraging investors to consider building dry docks in the country to save the nation’s foreign exchange and save local ship owners, like ourselves, the trouble of having to go overseas for dry dock services,” the company added.

The company’s Bonny Island facility currently has six trains in operation with a total capacity of some 22 mtpa of LNG.

NLNG is a joint venture compromised of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC (49%), Shell (25.6%), Total (15%), and Eni (10.4%).
