After the second search for the missing MH370, the Bluefin-21 AUV was forced to resurface due to a technical issue.

During the AUV’s time on deck the data gathered was downloaded and analysed, after which the AUV was redeployed to continue its search.

Until now no significant detections were found.

Australian Maritime Safety Authority plans to explore a visual search area totaling approximately 55,151 square kilometers of the Southern Indian Ocean today.

The AUV was first deployed from Ocean Shield vessel to assist in a search mission for the missing Boeing 777 that disappeared on March 08.
