The planned sale of Nordic Shipholding’s MR1 chemical/product tanker Nordic Ruth has fallen through, the Danish shipowner said.

In February this year, Nordic Shipholding signed a sale and purchase memorandum of agreement (MOA) with an undisclosed buyer to dispose of the Handysize bulker built in 2000.

VesselsValue’s data shows that Nordic Shipholding inked the MOA with a company from Nigeria, having agreed the purchase price of USD 6.1 million.

However, the buyers “have not honoured their obligation to establish the requested deposit, and the … Memorandum of Agreement is consequently considered null and void,” Nordic Shipholding explained.

“Nordic Shipholding A/S will continue to market the vessel for sale,” the shipowner added.

Including the 35,800 dwt Nordic Ruth, the shipping company currently has six product tanker vessels, five Handysize tankers and one LR1.
