Norsafe to deliver lifeboat systems to Statoil’s Njord A platform

Norway’s Norsafe has received orders from engineering and construction services company Kværner for the delivery of new lifeboat systems to Statoil’s Njord A platform.

Norsafe said that it would supply three lifeboat systems of its largest freefall lifeboat, the GES 52, with compatible davits.

The company added that the contract for the lifeboat systems was worth over 35 million NOK ($4.1 million) and delivered in 2018 and 2019.

The Njord A platform is being upgraded by Kvaerner as a part of Statoil’s “Njord Future” project with the purpose of extending the life of the Njord field. Statoil awarded Kvaerner the contract for the complete upgrade of the Njord A platform in March 2017 for an estimated value of around NOK 5 billion ($588 million).

The Njord field where Njord A is normally stationed lies approximately 130 kilometers North West of Kristiansund and 30 kilometers west of the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea.

Dag Songedal, Norsafe Group CEO, said: “We are proud to be chosen by Kværner to be a part of this important upgrade project. To have succeeded and secured this contract shows that the efforts we have made within these upgrade projects have been correct, both regarding technical solutions, products, and implementation model.”
