North Sea operator books Dräger’s gas detection and monitoring tools

Project & Tenders

Dräger UK, a safety technology player, has secured its fourth large-scale multi-gas monitor change-out with the same undisclosed client for North Sea gas detection and monitoring solutions.

Described as a six-figure contract with a major North Sea operator for the supply of advanced gas detection and monitoring solutions, the deal is said to build on the delivery of recent change-out projects across several North Sea sites. The company claims that the new scope will equip teams with a fully integrated suite of safety capabilities due to be rolled out across an offshore oil and gas asset next year.

The deal is interpreted to mark the fourth large-scale multi-gas monitor (MGM) change-out, following similar successes on both onshore and offshore assets in recent years. Following a detailed evaluation, Dräger’s equipment is perceived to have been selected for offering lower maintenance requirements and greater versatility compared with competing technologies.

The decision is deemed to have been strongly influenced by previous successes. The deliverables include personnel monitoring, automated bump testing and calibration via X-Dock technology, confined space and purging solutions, and benzene monitoring. The deal also covers the introduction of the gas detection connect (GDC), Dräger’s cloud-based asset management and live monitoring software, to strengthen asset management processes.

These systems will underpin a modernized, future-ready safety framework for the asset and its workforce, portrayed as a demonstration of the value of the firm’s collaborative, cross-departmental approach, seen as a further evidence of the company’s ongoing momentum in the North Sea.

Paul Davidson, Account Manager at Dräger UK, commented: “This win is a clear signal that when safety is on the line, the market knows exactly who it can trust. Time and again, we’ve proven that our technology performs, our support delivers and our people go the extra mile, meaning less downtime, lower maintenance, smoother transitions and equipment that simply does what it’s supposed to do.

“I would like to thank the North Sea operator for the trust they continue to place in us across multiple assets and multiple years. Their teams have seen the consistency of our delivery, the quality of our technology and the commitment of our people up close, and their ongoing confidence is something we never take for granted.”

While the opportunity was initiated through close engagement with Dräger’s partners, informed by years of technical demonstrations, trials, training, and transition planning, it will be delivered by the company’s specialist project teams to ensure a seamless and efficient onboarding process.
