Norway: Bergen Group Appoints Terje Arnesen as New CEO

The Board of Directors in Bergen Group ASA has appointed Terje Arnesen as the new CEO of the company. Arnesen has been acting in the position since 1 June 2011 when he took over from Pål Engebretsen.

“We are very pleased that Terje Arnesen has agreed to take responsibility as CEO of Bergen Group. Arnesen has a comprehensive background from both Norwegian and international maritime industry, and knows both the company and the market well”, says chairman of the board, Magnus Stangeland.

Terje Arnesen (49) came to Bergen Group in August 2010. He has extensive experience from offshore and maritime management positions in both Norway and abroad for the past 25 years. Among other things, he has been Managing  Director of Bennex group. He has also held several leadership positions at Rolls-Royce Group, including five years as global vice president for Marine Services and five years as regional director for Rolls-Royce Marine’s activities in the Mediterranean area.

Terje Arnesen takes over the responsibility as CEO and head of the 1,700 employees at 15 different companies along the Norwegian coast with great optimism:

“Bergen Group has a very good platform for further growth and development. In many of our areas, we have an international leading position – both in terms of expertise and quality. I’m really looking forward to developing this platform together with a great team in Bergen Group, and to assist in the process of clarifying the group’s future strategic direction together with the new board of directors”, says Arnesen.

Terje Arnesen is educated engineer, and has an MBA degree from both Norwegian Business School in Oslo and MBA ESCP-EAP in Paris. Arnesen is a resident of Bergen.
