Norway: Dolphin Christens Polar Duchess Seismic Vessel

Dolphin Geophysical AS, a Norway-based seismic specialist, held the christening of M/V Polar Duchess at Vågen, Bergen on Friday, 30th March 2012. Many attended the special occasion, which launched the sistership to Dolphin’s flagship vessel M/V Polar Duke.

Professor Gunn Mangerud assumed the position of Godmother to the vessel. Ms. Gunn Mangerund holds a Master’s degree in biology from the University in Trondheim and a PhD in geology from the University in Bergen.

M/V Polar Duchess is a purpose built high-end 3D vessel, capable of towing 14 streamers at 100 metre separation. Rigged with Sercel SSAS Sentinel streamers and the sistership to M/V Polar Duke, which is undoubtedly one of the most efficient vessels available to the market.

Polar Duchess is already contracted to TGS and will commence her upcoming survey in the Barents Sea imminently.
