Norway: Scana Secures Propeller Systems Contract from STX OSV

Norway - Scana Secures Propeller Systems Contract from STX OSV

Scana Industries ASA has through its subsidiary Scana Volda signed a new contract with STX OSV Trading. The contract value is approx. 24 MNOK for delivery of three gear and propeller systems with remote control for three trawlers of the type FV 01, which is a STX OSV design. The deal also includes an option for delivery of two additional systems. The deadline for declaring the option is set to 15th January 2012.

The propulsion systems are diesel-electric systems with total power of 4400 kW. This is divided into two controllable pitch propellers in nozzles that are driven by two electric motors connected to two Scana reduction gears. The vessels are energy efficient and built in accordance with DNV’s Clean Design requirements. The vessels will be built at STX OSV Braila Shipyard in Romania, and completed at a STX OSV shipyard in Norway. The equipment will be delivered in May, August and October 2012. The end customer is Aker Seafood ASA, Norway.

Scana is proud to be a STX and Aker Seafood partner, both players with modern design and technology focus. Scana has extensive experience in supplying propulsion systems for fishing vessels, and is an experienced supplier of modern and sophisticated propulsion systems.

-The contract confirms Scanas position as a leading supplier of advanced propulsion systems. The market for most types of sophisticated vessels tends toward environmentally friendly vessels with good flexibility in operating solutions, providing a great potential for Scanas product portfolio. The contract is also important for Scanas activity level for 2012, says CEO Rolf Roverud.
