Norway: Statoil to Carry Out Exploration Drilling with Songa Trym in North Sea

Statoil Petroleum AS (Statoil) has received consent to carry out exploration drilling with the Songa Trym mobile drilling facility in the North Sea.

The consent relates to drilling of well 16/8-3 S with an optional sidetrack. The well is part of production licence 360.

The objective of the drilling operation is to explore a prospect named “Lupin”.

Water depth at the site is 72 metres.

The drilling operation is scheduled to start in March 2013, with an expected duration of 72 days.

Songa Trym is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility, type Aker H-3, built in Norway at Aker Værdal in 1976.

Until 2009, the facility was named Deepsea Trym.

Songa Management AS in Stavanger is responsible for operating the facility. Songa Trym is owned bySonga Offshore SE on Cyprus.
