STX OSV Bags USD 34 Million Contract for Construction of One Forage Carrier

STX OSV Holdings Limited, one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of offshore and specialized vessels, has secured a new contract for the construction of a Forage Carrier for Eidsvaag AS. The contract value is approximately NOK 200 million. The LNG powered vessel will be purpose-built for the bulk transport and delivery of fish feed to fish farms and will operate for Skretting AS, the world leader in the production and supply of feed for farmed fish and shrimp.

Delivery is scheduled from STX OSV Brattvaag in Norway in the second quarter 2013. The hull of the vessel will be built at STX OSV Tulcea in Romania.

The vessel will be of Rolls-Royce NVC-401 LNG design. The overall length is approximately 75 meters with a beam of 13.6 meters. Eidsvaag AS is a family-owned shipping company domiciled in Frøya in Norway. In 2001, Eidsvaag AS entered into a long-term freight agreement with Skretting AS for sea transport of all fish feed in Norway, and also operates vessels for Skretting in Chile and Canada. The company operates a modern fleet of five own and several chartered vessels.
