Under the deal, Nuovo Pignone, which is part of Baker Hughes, a GE company, will supply gas turbine compressors and gas turbine generators for the three liquefaction trains for the Arctic LNG 2 project.

Leonid Mikhelson, Novatek’s head noted the partnership continues on the cooperation on the giant Yamal LNG project that the Nuovo Pignone supplied gas turbine compressors for.

In a separate agreement, Novatek confirmed the contract signed with a joint venture between Saipem and Renaissance for the design and construction of three gravity-based structures for the Arctic LNG project.

SAREN, a joint venture between Renaissance Heavy Industries Russia (RHI Russia) and Saipem, will deliver the design, supply of materials and equipment, construction of three gravity-based structures at Novatek-Murmansk plant.

It will also be responsible for the commissioning and preparation for operations, including towing and installation of the gravity-based structures.

Saipem noted in its statement that the deal is valued at  €2.2 billion ($2.5 billion).

The Arctic LNG 2 project envisages constructing three LNG trains at 6.6 million tons per annum each, using gravity-based structure (GBS) platforms. The project is based on the hydrocarbon resources of the Utrenneye field.
