NPD Prepares CO2 Storage Atlas for Norwegian North Sea

Upon request from the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has prepared an atlas for CO2 storage in the Norwegian part of the North Sea.

The atlas provides an overview over areas where CO2 can be stored safely in the subsurface for a long time. It also estimates the size of the CO2 storage capacity in this part of the North Sea.

The atlas will be presented to the Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Ola Borten Moe, on today, 13 December. The presentation will take place in NVE’s offices in Middelthunsgate 29 in Oslo from 14.00 – 15.30.

From 13 December, the atlas can be purchased via the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s website.
