NYK Orders Wood-Chip Carrier for Mitsubishi Paper Mills Contract

Japanese shipping giant NYK has ordered a new wood-chip carrier from Oshima Shipbuilding for a long-term contract with Mitsubishi Paper Mills Limited (MPML).

As informed by NYK, the ship will measure 210 meters in length and will be able to load 4.3 million cubic feet of wood chips.

The company further said the vessel would comply with IMO 2020 SOx (sulfur oxide) emission regulations without providing additional details.

The 59,900 dwt carrier is scheduled to be delivered inĀ 2021.

NYK noted that it currently has four long-term contracts with Mitsubishi Paper Mills Limited, adding that this contract would allow the two companies to enhance their eco-friendly transport.

In addition to MPML, NYK Line has long-term contracts with Hokuetsu Kishu Paper for seven wood-chip carriers.
