Ocean Energy Europe Exceeds 100 Members

Ocean Energy Europe, the industry group for ocean renewable energy in Europe, exceeded 100 members this week, when Wavepower, Marine Power Systems and Mojo Maritime joined as members.

They join a growing list of industry representatives uniting behind a common plan for industrialising the ocean energy sector.

The sharp increase in membership over the past years is indicative of the importance of industrial collaboration and the role the EU can play in securing the sector’s future,” said Rob Stevenson, President of Ocean Energy Europe.

Formerly the European Ocean Energy Association, the industry group was re-launched as Ocean Energy Europe in 2013, with the aim of positioning ocean energy as an emerging mainstream energy production technology, which will be essential to meet the EU’s climate and energy objectives.

We are very pleased with the mandate the industry has given us to represent its interests across Europe. Industrialising ocean energy will be a European success story, but the industry needs to work together to make this happen. With the right support, we are confident that ocean energy can provide over 10% of Europe’s electricity by 2050,” concluded Rob Stevenson.

Since 2013, membership of Ocean Energy Europe has increased by 65%.
