Odessa to Host International Forum ETC 2013

For many years the global market for seafarers has suffered from shortage of qualified professionals and, above all, from the lack of fleet officers.

Insufficient number of high-level specialists leads to accidents and significant losses for ship owners, ports and other companies acting in the field of shipping. Recent examples can be illustrated by «Costa Concordia» cruise ship and other vessels’ accidents that have happened.

In this regard, Odessa National Maritime Academy with the support of IMO, ITF, BIMCO, IMEC, IAMU, CPMR, IMarEST, NI, BSAMI, GlobalMET and other international maritime organizations initiated conduction of International Forum on Seafarers’ Education, Training and Crewing (ETC 2013) that would bring together a conference and exhibition of the latest achievements in this field. The scheduled date of Forum is April 24th – 25th, 2013.

The managers of state and public organizations, as well as the experts of higher educational establishments, shipping, manning and crewing companies, developers of new training systems and training methods will get the opportunity to meet and exchange experience within the framework of the Forum. The participants will be able to get first hand information about current trends and developments in the field of training, certification and employment of seafarers. New methods and means of training, promising projects and programs of maritime education development, the needs and proposals of the leading operators of maritime manpower market will be represented during the conference and exhibition.
