OEM Launches in Texas

Underscoring the economic benefits of expanded liquefied natural gas  export markets to the U.S. economy, a bipartisan and diverse group of state officials, business groups, service companies and many others gathered at a press conference to officially launch Our Energy Moment  in Texas.

Our Energy Moment’s Texas chapter joins a growing national coalition focused on educating the public and public policy leaders of the benefits of expanded LNG exports.

“LNG exports present an opportunity to bring good paying jobs with good benefits to Texas workers and signifies our long-standing support of a robust, healthy and competitive energy market,” said Jason French, spokesperson for the Our Energy Moment coalition. “We must ensure that the U.S. doesn’t miss this historic opportunity, and Texas has a critical role to play in guaranteeing that we don’t.” he added.

As the nation’s second most populous state and the largest producing state, Texas is uniquely positioned to be at the forefront of the historic opportunity presented by expanding exports of LNG. It is estimated that LNG exports will create up to 155,000 jobs in Texas by 2035 in construction, operations, exploration and production, and generate economic benefits across the U.S. economy as new wealth is generated in the state.

“Texas has an abundant supply of natural gas,” said Judge Nelson Wolff, Bexar County. “More importantly, a great deal of LNG will come from the Eagle Ford Shale which is great news for workers and businesses in Bexar County.”

“Expanding LNG exports is good for the U.S. and great for Texas,” said State Representative J.M. Lozano (R-Kingsville). “The economic impact in my district will be realized almost immediately after the federal government approves the necessary permits for the Corpus Christi Liquefaction facility. LNG exports will help create quality, well-paying jobs for hardworking Texans.”

With today’s launch, Texas joins an alliance of more than 30 organizations committed to creating American jobs and strengthening our economy through expanding markets for LNG.
