Offshore Innovators to Host ROV Induction Training in Guyana

Business & Finance

Offshore Innovators (Guyana) will be hosting the first ever remotely operated vehicle (ROV) induction training program in Guyana.

The program, which is designed to prepare technical personnel for a career in underwater robotics, will be conducted by MTCS, UK.

The target audience of the program is existing Guyanese technical personnel with backgrounds in Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, and at least two years’ work experience these fields.

The ‘ROV Induction Training’ program prepares candidates to operate as part of an ROV team at the entry level position of ROV Trainee. Safety is of premier importance with a focus on safe working practices while exposed to High Voltage, Hydraulic Pressure and Stored Energy. Candidates are also introduced to various types of ROV systems and their applications, particularly as they relate to Oil and Gas Operations.

Course candidates will have an opportunity to operate an observation class ROV at the training location in Georgetown, provided by Offshore Innovators. This exposure will begin their accumulation of ROV flying hours, one of the important career performance requirements for competency development.

The course will be limited to twelve participants to maintain a high ratio of instructor to candidate face time. Proposed dates for the course are currently October 9 to 20, 2017. The course will be instructed by a UK-based ROV instructor and supported by two Trinidadian ROV supervisors.
