Oil Found at Askja Well (Norway)

Det norske oljeselskap ASA has, by pressure measurements, confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons in exploration well 30/11-9 S on the Askja prospect in the Norwegian part of the North Sea. 

Drilling operations, in the production licence 272,  are ongoing and final results are not yet available. Statoil is the operator of PL 272 with a 50 percent interest. Partners are Det norske (25 percent) and Svenska Petroleum (25 percent).

Statoil is using the Ocean Vanguard drilling rig for the operation.
