Oil & Gas UK Welcomes Over 1,100 Delegates to PILOT Share Fair

Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive, Malcolm Webb, welcomed over 1,100 delegates from all over the UK to the 2011 PILOT Share Fair in Aberdeen. Companies making major investments in the UK’s oil and gas resource will present details of upcoming work to a host of small and medium-sized supply chain contractors at the event which is designed to promote open and constructive dialogue on very technically complex or large scale projects.

Mr Webb said: “The PILOT Share Fair has grown from strength to strength, year on year and helps the UK’s world-leading supply chain plan its technology developments to help progress projects which increase recovery of the UK’s oil and gas. The combined support of our sponsors, CAN, Flexlife and Sparrows, of PILOT Share Fair provides the oil and gas community with this invaluable opportunity to share market intelligence in advance of future investment projects. A welcome boost has been the recent announcements by members of the operator community of a number of exciting new projects on the UKCS. These have encouraged us to share a mood of optimism along with the good news that UK oil and gas production could be maintained into the 2050s.

“Companies are investing billions of pounds developing oil and gas projects in the UKCS and the highly-competitive supply chain on our doorstep provides excellence in engineering, manufacturing and technology. Today, we have 16 major players delivering presentations and 18 companies providing one-to-one meetings where companies can meet potential clients face-to-face to discuss future business plans. This all helps to ‘oil the wheels’ of our business.”

Secretary of State for Scotland, Michael Moore MP, in addressing delegates, said: “The PILOT Share Fair is a key date in the oil and gas industry calendar. The industry is absolutely vital for Scotland and an event such as this which allows companies investing billions in the North Sea to explain their plans to the innovative companies in the Scottish supply chain is incredibly useful. We know the sector faces a number of significant opportunities and the UK Government will continue to work closely with the oil and gas industry in future.”
