Ophir moving forward with Fortuna FLNG project

Ophir Energy said it has significantly advanced its Fortuna FLNG project in Equatorial Guinea in the first half of this year.

The project remains on schedule for FID in mid-2016 and first gas in mid-2019, with Golar LNG appointed as the midstream provider and the upstream component of the project already in FEED stage, the UK-based company said in its results report on Thursday.

According to Ophir, formal processes have  commenced to secure both gas buyers and equity partners and the company is “encouraged by the levels of interest at this early stage.

Fortuna field sits within the Block R licence, offshore Equatorial Guinea which is located in the south-eastern part of the Niger Delta complex.

The field is expected to produce 2.2 mtpa and Ophir currently has an 80% working interest.
