Orient Cable Bags Putian Pinghai III Deal

Orient Cable has been awarded a cable supply contract for the third phase of the Putian Pinghai Bay Offshore Wind Farm.

Under the contract, the Ningbo-based cable supplier will deliver 89.8 kilometers of 35kV inter-array cable and 23.52 kilometers of 220kV export cable.

Phase III of the Putian Pinghai Bay Offshore Wind Farm, developed by Fujian Zhongmin Offshore Wind Limited, will have a capacity of 308MW, according to Orient Cable’s post on social media.

The contract for the Putian Pinghai project’s third phase is also the third contract for Orient Cable for the same project. In 2017, the company won the contract for the 250MW second phase of the offshore wind farm.

The first phase of the project (50MW) was connected to the grid and fully commissioned in 2016.

The offshore wind project is situated in Putian Pinghai Bay, Xiuyu District, Putian, Fujian Province. The project neighbours Daitou Peninsula on the west and Nanri Island on the north.

In March 2020, Orient Cable was selected by China Three Gorges to deliver and install submarine cables at the 1,000MW Yangjiang Shapa Phases 3-5 offshore wind farms.

This followed the company’s news from February, when the cable supplier secured a contract to deliver and install the 35kV inter-array and the 220kV export cable at the 400MW Yangjiang Shapa Phase 2 wind farm. The company won a cable supply deal for the first phase in July 2018.
