Mid of July Palfinger Marine delivered a second PK 150002 MB crane to Transocean. The crane has an outreach of 8.9 m and a lifting capacity of 9.5 t, the main purpose will be general lifting and hoisting on the drillship.

The PK 150002 MB comes with an external control stand and meets the latest DNV and ATEX requirements.

Earlier this year the biggest Palfinger Marine’s heavy duty foldable knuckle boom crane PFM 4500 ME was delivered to Transocean Ltd., a project which was executed in cooperation with the UK partner Outreach Ltd. Purpose again is general lifting and hoisting with a capacity of 20 t at 14 m.

After the delivery of the first order one year ago, Transocean again choose another PK 150002 MB for one of their drillships.

“We are very proud about the long-term relationship with Transocean, who has many PALFINGER MARINE cranes already installed on all kind of rigs for different kind of purposes and hopefully many more to come”, says Bernd Huemer, Sales Manager Offshore Cranes.

Due to the good partnership, further upcoming orders are expected. To additionally support the oil and gas market locally, Palfinger Marine has installed its own Houston office and employed Louis LeBourgeois to cover the full Palfinger Marine range including marine and offshore cranes, launch and recovery systems and boats. Palfinger Marine will be present at SMM with a PK 50002 M knuckle boom crane at booth 206 in hall A1.
