Passenger Ship Allides with Pier in Baltimore

The passenger vessel Spirit of Baltimore sustained superficial damage after it allided with the pier at Henderson Wharf Marina in Baltimore, Maryland in the morning hours of August 28, according to the United States Coast Guard (USCG).

The authorities said that there were 447 people aboard the vessel at the time of the incident.

The vessel’s hull sustained cosmetic damage, while some 60-feet of pier was damaged.

Coast Guard investigators from Sector Maryland-National Capital Region are investigating the incident and assessing the damage to the vessel and pier.

Relevant authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.

USCG said that there were currently no reports of pollution.

According to AIS data provided by MarineTraffic, the passenger ship is currently stopped in Baltimore.
