Peru ships its first LNG cargo to UK

The UK is set to receive ist first cargo liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Peru.

The 135,072-cbm LNG carrier Gallina loaded the cargo on Monday, February 6 and set course for the United Kingdom, state-owned Perupetro data shows.

It is the first cargo the Peruvian facility sent to the United Kingdom and the first cargo since the start of the year not to head to Spain. A day before, on Sunday, the 155,000-cbm GasLog Shanghai loaded its first LNG cargo at the Pampa Melchorita plant.

It was the sixth consecutive cargo the Peruvian export plant dispatched to Spain since the beginning of 2017.

With the two cargos, Peru’s LNG export facility shipped 381 vessels in total, since it started operations in June 2010.

The 4.45 million tons per year gas liquefaction plant is located 170 kilometers south of Lima and receives gas via a 408-kilometer pipeline built across the Andes.
