Petrobras Contracts Twenty-Three OSVs

In 6th round, nineteen Platform Supply Vessels (PSV – Vessels to transport cargo to the platforms) were contracted, six with Asgaard Navegação S.A., six with Starnav Serviços Marítimos Ltda, three with Bram Offshore Transportes Marítimos Ltda., two with Wilson Sons Offshore S.A. and two with Companhia Brasileira de Offshore. In addition, four Anchor Handling Tug and Supply vessels (AHTS – Vessels to tow and anchor rigs and platforms) were contracted with Companhia Brasileira de Offshore.

In this program, the percentage of local content required in the construction phase is 50% for Anchor Handling and Tug Supply vessels (AHTS) and 60% for Platform Supply Vessels (PSV). In the operational phase, the percentage of local content required is 70% for both types of vessels.

Approved contracts in this 6th round comprise a total investment of approximately US$ 1.7 billion to be made by the charterers and should generate around 7,000 direct jobs in Brazil over the next four years.

Over the last six rounds, which began in 2008, these contracts have ensured a continued average demand for around 5,500 jobs in Brazilian shipyards each round.

Since 2008, this program has signed contracts for a total of 146 vessels in seven successive rounds. Up to the 6th round, contracts had been signed for 110 vessels, amounting to around US$ 6.7 billion in investment from charterers to build vessels in Brazil.

The 7th round of the program was launched in March this year and Petrobras will receive proposals until June 27. Their contracts will be signed by October 30 this year.
