Petrofac bags two extensions in UK

Petrofac, a service provider to the oil & gas industry, has secured two contract extensions in the UK, one from Centrica and the other one from EnQuest.

Petrofac secured a two-year extension from Centrica Storage Limited to its services contract on the 8A platform in the Rough field, in the Southern North Sea, 18 miles off the coast of East Yorkshire. The contract will start in January 2016.

The Rough field has two offshore installation hubs called 3B and 8A where gas is injected and extracted through up to 30 wells, which have been drilled through the platforms down into the reservoir thousands of feet below the seabed.

Furthermore, Petrofac secured a five-year contract extension from EnQuest, combining the services of an existing facilities management agreement that will see Petrofac continue as duty holder of the Kittiwake platform, with a brownfield engineering modifications contract.

The Kittiwake field, in the UK North Sea, was discovered in 1981 and developed with a fixed steel jack platform.

Walter Thain, Managing Director, Petrofac Offshore Projects & Operations said: “We’ve enjoyed productive and long-standing relationships with our customers in the UKCS and these contracts are a great demonstration of how we can continue to work in partnership to efficiently deliver in line with their individual business and operational needs and our own standards.”
