PG Flow to deliver equipment for Johan Sverdrup Phase 2

PG Flow Solutions has been awarded a contract by the Aker Solutions and Kvaerner 50/50 joint venture to deliver mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) and chemical injection pump packages to the Johan Sverdrup Phase 2 field development in Norway.

PG Flow said on Thursday that it would supply a total of six pump skids, including pump skids for scale inhibitor injection, drag reducer injection, emulsion breaker, and MEG injection.

The company will also provide one control valve skid which combines the MEG injections pumps from Phase 1 and 2 allowing high flexibility for the MEG injection system. PG Flow will also conduct modifications and testing on the MEG injection pump system the company delivered to Phase 1 of the field development.

PG Flow will engineer and manage the project out of its manufacturing site in Sande, Vestfold, Norway. The company has not disclosed the value of the contract.

In November 2015, Equinor awarded PG Flow contracts to deliver chemical injection and MEG injection packages to Phase 1 of the Johan Sverdrup field development.

Mark Tuinman, sales manager of Energy at PG Flow Solutions, said: “Our design is based upon our delivery to Phase 1 for similar applications. Furthermore, the majority of our project team that worked on Phase 1 are now dedicated for this delivery to Phase 2.”

All skids and pumps will be supplied to the Johan Sverdrup riser platform, which the Aker Solutions – Kvaerner joint venture is responsible for modifying and upgrading in connection with Phase 2 of the field development. According to the company, most of PG’s deliveries will be made in 3Q 2019.

Equinor is the operator of the Johan Sverdrup field, located in the North Sea offshore Norway, with 40.0267 percent. The partners are Lundin Norway with a 22.6 percent working interest, Petoro with 17.36 percent, Aker BP with 11.5733 percent, and Total with 8.44 percent.

The first phase involves the establishment of a field center consisting of four platforms, including a utility and living quarters platform, a processing platform, a drilling platform and a riser platform. The platforms will be interlinked by gangways.

The second phase covers the development of another processing platform (P2), modifications of the riser platform and the field center, five subsea templates, in addition to power from shore to the Utsira High in 2022. Production start expected in the fourth quarter of 2022.

In late August, Equinor filed the development plan for the second phase of Johan Sverdrup to the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.
