Philippine Coast Guard Catches Repeat Offender

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) detained the passenger ship Trishia Kerstin 2 for the second time in nine days after boxes of illegally imported cigarettes were once again found abandoned and scattered onboard the ship.

About PHP 80,000 (USD 1,800) worth of imported cigarettes were found April 4, inside boxes marked “Irene.”

On March 27, a cargo of imported cigarettes with an estimated value of PHP 2.2 million (USD 49,500) was discovered onboard the 1989-built ship.

The personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Zamboanga issued a seizure receipt to the captain of the vessel for the confiscation of the smuggled imported cigarettes.
