Philippines Eyes LNG from Canada, Brunei

The Department of Energy (DOE) of Philippines is working on securing LNG supply from Canada and Brunei but would have to study first a pricing scheme that would translate to lower gas rates for the consumers, The Philippine Star reported, citing Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla as saying.

The Malampaya deep water-to-gas field in northwest Palawan would eventually be depleted by 2020 which is why the country needs to find other sources of natural gas,” he said.

I want to get involved in the pricing scheme for LNG. We have no facility now so I want to find out where we are in terms of pricing,” he added.
