Philly Shipyard Delivers first LNG-ready tanker to APT

Philly Shipyard, the U.S. unit of Philly Shipyard ASA, on Wednesday said it has delivered the first LNG-ready product tanker to American Petroleum Tankers, a unit of Kinder Morgan.

The vessel named American Endurance is the first of four 50,000 dwt product tankers Philly Shipyard is building for APT.

The LNG-ready product tanker is based on a Hyundai Mipo Dockyards (HMD) design, and has already received LNG Ready Level 1 approval from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Philly Shipyard said in its statement.

The 600-foot tanker has a carrying capacity of 14.5 million gallons of crude oil or refined products.

Philly Shipyard has commenced construction of three other 50,000 dwt tankers for APT with deliveries scheduled through 2016 and 2017.

Also under construction at the shipyard are two 3,600 TEU containerships for Matson Navigation Company, with planned deliveries in the third quarter 2018 and the first quarter of 2019.
