Picture of the day: busy days at Ichthys field

As Inpex-operated $34 billion Ichthys LNG project construction is reaching its peak, work on the Ichthys field is not falling behind.

According to Inpex, about 1500 people are now working in the field on more than a dozen vessels.

Drilling with two rigs, the ENSCO-5006 and Transocean’s Jack Bates, is well underway as well as the deepwater pipelay.

More than 30,000 tons of subsea infrastructure and equipment will be installed across the Ichthys field.

Gas from the field, in the Browse Basin offshore Western Australia, will be exported to the onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 889 km pipeline.
