PM Azarov Offers Shell to Join Gas Production in Ukraine

Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov suggested management of Royal Dutch Shell to join the natural gas production from depleted and traditional fields of Ukraine. The Prime Minister said this during a meeting with the delegation of Shell.

“I want to offer Shell to join to gas production not only from unconventional reservoirs, including shale, but also to its production from traditional deposits,” Mykola Azarov said.

He stressed that Ukraine installs special gas boosting stations that increase tension in existing and depleted deposits and in particular it will increase hydrocarbon production by 25-30%, and thus Ukraine is interested in bringing of excellence of Shell.

In turn, Andy Brown, Upstream International Director of the Board of Royal Dutch Shell noted that the global group of energy and petrochemicals companies (Shell) is interested in cooperation with Ukraine in the traditional production of hydrocarbons.

“We could cooperate and share expertise, jointly developing depleted traditional fields, we could send you our technology,” Andy Brown said.

He informed that Shell is using special technology to increase gas production from depleted fields in the Netherlands, and the experience can be given to Ukraine.

Recall, the Government signed an agreement with Shell on sharing production for shale gas gathering at Yuzovske area the resources of which are estimated at more than 4 trillion cubic meters of gas.
