PNW LNG faces growing opposition

Petronas-led Pacific NorthWest LNG project in British Columbia is facing more opposition as the Gitxaala First Nation voiced is concerns over the environmental impact of the project.

“The Gitxaala First Nation continues legal action against the federal government’s approval of the Northern Gateway pipeline,” said Gitxaala Chief Cliff White adding that the same values Gitxaala carries in the Canadian Environment Assessment Agency’s review of Petronas’ LNG terminal at Lelu Island.

According to its statement, the First Nation will not move to final agreement with Petronas until all potential impacts on community health, LNG plant safety and the environment are addressed to our satisfaction

Gitxaala Environmental Monitoring is actively involved in the CEAA process to ensure proper due diligence for this project occurs.
