Gaz-System Inks Deal for Swinoujscie-Szczecin Gas Pipe Construction

Poland’s Gaz-System signed an agreement for the performance of construction and assembly works for the gas pipeline on the Świnoujście-Szczecin route with a diameter of 800 mm and approx. 80 km in length.

The agreement was concluded with the contractor Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Inżynieryjnych “POL-AQUA”., selected under tender proceedings. The contract is worth almost 147 mln PLN net.

The construction of the high pressure gas pipeline on the Świnoujście-Szczecin route constitutes an element strengthening the security of gas supplies to Poland and creating the technical infrastructure necessary to transport gas to other directions apart from the East.

The investment is connected with the arising liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal in Świnoujście, and also constitutes an element of the development of the cross-border transmission infrastructure in the Baltic Sea region (Baltic Interconnection).

The performance of the project constitutes the object of co-financing in the amount of 50 mln EUR from funds derived from the European Union programme “European Energy Programme for Recovery” (EEPR), which is to contribute to increasing the energy security of EU Member States through the fulfilment of cross-border infrastructure investment projects intended to integrate the European Union energy market.
