Port of Vizag Operations Back to Normal

Vessel traffic has returned to normal at the port of Vizag after being suspended on September 6 due to a listing ship at one of the port’s docks.

Inward and outward movements at EQ 5, EQ 6, EQ 7, EQ 8, EQ 9, WQ 4, WQ 5 & WQ 6, which were suspended after the general cargo ship HAI DUONG 09 started to list badly while being loaded with steel billets, are now taking place as usual, GAC India informed.

The 10,959 dwt vessel reportedly suffered the list due to faulty ballasting, which led to a loss of stability during cargo loading.

GAC India said that cargo discharge operations were completed aboard the vessel, and the ship was afterwards sent to anchorage in ballast condition.

The 2006-built HAI DUONG 09 is currently idle at anchorage, awaiting for confirmation from shippers on the acceptance for loading.

GAC India earlier said that there were no injuries reported following the incident.
