Power Ltd Proposes Tidal Energy Barrage Construction (UK)

Power Ltd. has put together a proposal for the construction of a barrage which would be capable of harnessing enough tidal energy to power 72,000 homes.

The barrage would be built across North Devon’s Taw Torridge estuary, reports This is Cornwall news site.

The barrage, which would be 1,200 metres long, would run between Northam Burrows and Braunton Burrows.

The project is expected to cost between £200 and £240 million and it would consist of eight or nine variable pitch turbines which would produce between 88 and 100 MW of power.

During the construction of the barrage around 450 jobs would be created and, once complete, the project would provide 20 full-time jobs.
