Primo Marine Completes IFA2000 Interconnector Work

Subsea cabling and pipeline engineering specialist, Primo Marine, has provided marine consultancy services including project management and offshore client representation relating to the subsea cable repair operations of the IFA2000 interconnector.

The IFA2000 interconnector consists of eight high voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cables linking France and the United Kingdom.

IFA2000 interconnector is a joint project between the French transmission system operator RTE Réseau de Transport d’Electricité and its United Kingdom counterpart National Grid.

The repairs covered two cable routes and were located off Folkestone, about 6 km away from the English coast, in 20 to 25 meters of water (LAT).

Jaap Smit, founder of Primo Marine, said: “Primo Marine was extremely proud to have been selected and bring its extensive experience and expertise in respect of subsea cable repair operations. In addition to our experience and expertise, the project was completed successfully due to all parties having the same mindset to work together, in order to ensure the positive outcome this project required.”

Xavier Campagne, project manager of RTE Réseau de Transport d’Electricité, said: “Primo Marine was a reliable and trusted partner and their expertise and experience throughout the project made an extremely positive contribution in respect of ensuring a successful concluded project.”
