Prosafe waiting on weather to get hold of its flotel

Prosafe, the owner of semi-submersible accommodation rigs, is still waiting for the weather to improve to re-attach its flotel Safe Bristolia to a tug vessel in order for it to continue its journey to Poland.

The Safe Bristolia was heading to Gdansk attached to an anchor handling tug vessel Sea Lynx when the heavy weather caused the towline to snap leaving the rig adrift in the UK North Sea.

The incident occurred on Sunday and the towline is yet to be re-established. The accommodation rig was brought under control on Monday when the captain deployed one of two emergency anchors.

According to the owner of the accommodation rig, on Thursday, January 7, 2016, the position of the Safe Bristolia remained unchanged. The vessel has held position for the last 60 hours, and there are two anchor handling vessels in attendance.

“We are still waiting for a break in the weather before re-establishing the main tow,” Prosafe said on Thursday.
