PSA Audits Concrete Coating on Polarled Pipeline

The Polarled pipeline project consists of a 481 km long, 36″ pipeline between the Aasta Hansteen facility in the Norwegian Sea and the Nyhamna shoreside facility in the county of Møre og Romsdal. The project is of great strategic significance for future developments in the Norwegian Sea.

Statoil is the operator for the development of Polarled. Wasco is the company that has been awarded the task of applying concrete coating to some 40,000 individual pipe sections.

The audit was conducted through meetings, discussions, checks and a document review at Wasco’s premises in Mo i Rana on 19 and 20 August 2014.

The basis for the audit relates to how Statoil is complying with the requirements in relevant regulations.

The audit detected no non-conformities in relation to the petroleum regulations, but found two areas with potential for improvement. These concerned the management system and the company’s own follow-up.
