PSA Audits Statoil’s Barrier Management at Statfjord C

In April, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of Statoil’s barrier management at Statfjord C.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to review whether Statoil’s management and monitoring of barriers was in accordance with the company’s and statutory requirements, so as to reduce the likelihood of failures.

Result

Non-conformities were identified in connection with:

• Risk analysis,
• Evacuation routes,
• Risk reduction and risk analyses in the main plan.

In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with:

• Barriers,
• Fire water,
• Area risk charts,
• Non-conformity handling,
• Valves.
