PSA Norway Inspects Logistics Practices on Rowan Stavanger Rig

PSA Norway Inspects Logistics Discipline on Rowan Stavanger Rig

From 18-21 October 2011, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit activity on Rowan Stavanger in connection with an expanded application for an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for drilling.

The audit activity was well facilitated by Rowan.

Rowan Stavanger has previously obtained an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) as a living quarters facility. This audit primarily covered logistics, material handling and lifting gear in connection with drilling operations.

The goal of inspecton was to verify compliance with regulatory requirements within the logistics discipline related to the AoC application Rowan delivered to the PSA for the drilling section of Rowan Stavanger. Furthermore, the results of the follow-up of previous audit activities within the discipline were to be verified.

Nonconformities were identified in connection with:

  • Planning
  • Material handling
  • Procedure for lifting operations
  • Facilities
  • Blind lifts

Furthermore, improvement items were identified in connection with:

  •  Maintenance system
  • Visibility for operators
  • Training system
  • Winch for ”kill and choke” lines
